KANSAS CITY MOCHA MOMS

Sisterhood. Support. Service.

The Kansas City Chapter of Mocha Mom's Inc. is the premier voice for mothers of color in Kansas City, and surrounding areas who want to connect and work in concert with other women who understand their perspective as a mother of color. Through fellowship, we share our life experiences and both learn from and teach one another what we know.

While the majority of our chapter is comprised of Moms who have decided to stay at home and work in a domestic capacity, we are also made up of Moms who work from home, work full-time and part-time and are entrepreneurs.

The Kansas City, MO chapter of Mocha Moms, Inc provides various opportunities for mothers to bond and network. The chapter holds numerous activities in support of moms, children, and families such as: Support Group Meetings, Mom’s Nights,  Field Trips, Community Service, and the list goes on.

We believe in having fun while staying focused on the mission of our national organization and our individual families’ missions. If you are looking for an awesome group of women to go through the journey of motherhood with, then look no further. The Kansas City, MO chapter consists of a wide variety of mothers from veterans to new moms. Check us out on Facebook.

KC MOCHA YOUTH SPOTLIGHT

Our very own Caden Howard was recognized by Kansas City, MO city council this summer along with 17 of his peers for their participation in a community initiative to find solutions to violence in Metro Kansas City. The group of young leaders worked with MORE2, a social justice organization, in their summer leadership program to initiate change. Giulian Williams, youth leader, proposed an idea for a hotline in the community to intervene where there is potential violence. The group of young leaders worked diligently to see this suggestion implemented and brought to life!

Caden's hobbies include playing soccer, skating, and swimming. He is part of a mentoring program for boys called High Aspirations where he volunteers to serve. He is bilingual and plans to go to college to study coding/engineering. Caden felt proud to participate in the More2 program and felt accomplished that his group's suggestion was recognized and implemented by the city council.

KC Mocha Moms is so proud of our young star and is excited to see Caden's future accomplishments.

ABOUT MOCHA MOMS, INC.

Mocha Moms is the premier voice and support group for mothers of color. Mocha Moms, Inc. does not discriminate against any person, regardless of demographic status. Anyone who supports the mission and purpose of Mocha Moms is welcome to join.

Direction for Mocha Moms, Inc. is provided by the National Executive Board, a dedicated group of volunteers. The National Board meets regularly to, among other things, determine ways to assist local chapters in their efforts to support members, plan national community service projects and events, establish policies and procedures, and assist in the formation of chapters.

Mocha Moms, Inc. also has a National Advisory Council, which serves to assist and advise the National Board. Regional Directors and State Coordinators serve as the liaison between local chapters and the National Executive Board.

Regional Directors and State Coordinators also serve as a guide and support for all local chapters with an emphasis on coordinating activities in which many chapters throughout an area can participate.

Each local chapter of Mocha Moms elects officers who are in charge of the day-to-day affairs of that chapter.

From time to time, Mocha Moms, Inc. will establish national networks. In addition to web-based support and a regular column in our newsletter, networks address certain segments of the Mocha Moms, Inc. community, such as Teens & Tweens support, Mocha Entrepreneurs, or Homeschooling Moms. The network coordinators are available to help plan activities for a chapter, state or region.
